Where Imagination Meets Creation
ASTRO'S IMAGINARIA
Devoted to imagination, to stimulate and cultivate curiosity and ideas by expressing them through art
STORY OF AN ARTIST
Sheryl Abid was born in Reno, NV and currently resides in Salem, OR. She started creating art through self taught experimentation and exploration since an early age and then brought that innate ability to grow and expand through grade school. She continued her education in the arts with a BA in visual communication, which provided an in depth view point into traditional artwork, photography, illustration and all things involved in creating art in a work place setting for graphic design and web design. Through experience and education, and some self exploration, Astro’s Imaginaria was born in 2015, where she began to pursue her artistic career in a different direction.
Sheryl’s work is a mix of tenebrism, expressionism and realism. She creates artworks that plays with light and contrasts, invoking emotion, while providing a sense of realism to them. Sheryl believes that artwork should provide a sense of perspective from the artists view point, giving insight into their soul. She uses art to battle the ongoing anxiety, depression, PTSD and societal pressure to conform in a unique and expressive manner. Her artwork varies in subjects matters; such as landscapes of places she has been, animal portraits, and fantasy landscapes and creatures. She uses acrylic paint, and acrylic inks as her primary medium, but also does work digitally as well.
Sheryl’s artwork can be found in several local galleries in Portland, OR and Vancouver, WA. Many are also available online or through most social media outlets. She has created magazine and book cover artwork, and was on the local news, KGW and KATU for a collective veterans exhibition, Acrylic Warfare. She offers prints, originals, coloring pages, custom commissions and some of her artwork is also available on products in varying platforms.
