Where Imagination Meets Creation

ASTRO'S IMAGINARIA

Devoted to imagination, to stimulate and cultivate curiosity and ideas, by expressing them through art

Sheryl Abid was born in Reno, NV and currently resides in Salem, OR. She started creating art through self taught experimentation and exploration from an early age and brought that innate ability to her formal education so she could expand and grow as an artist. She continued her education in the arts with a BA in visual communication and graphic design. This provided an in depth view point into traditional artwork, photography, and illustration and applying those to the demanding profession of graphic design and marketing. About a decade later, Astro’s Imaginaria was born in 2015, where she began to pursue her artistic career in a different direction.

Sheryl’s work is a mix of tenebrism, expressionism and realism. She creates artworks that plays with light and dark contrasts, invoking emotion, while providing a sense of realism to them. Sheryl believes that artwork should provide a peak into the perspective of the artist, giving insight into their personality and experiences. She uses art in a therapeutic manner that helps her to confront and address the trauma from her childhood, but also to manage the ongoing societal pressures in the world around her to conform. Her artwork varies in subject matter; such as landscapes, animal portraits, fantasy scenes and imagery, and mythology, are amongst her top favorites. She uses acrylic paint, and acrylic inks as her primary medium, but also does work digitally, and has combined the mediums to create a desired effect.

Sheryl’s artwork can be found in several local galleries in Portland, OR and Vancouver, WA. Many are also available online or through most social media outlets. Some of the things she has created include, but not limited to, magazine and book covers, fantasy artworks for dungeon and dragon merchandise, and Tarot and Oracle decks. She was on the local news, KGW and KATU for a collective veterans exhibition, Acrylic Warfare.

She offers a variety of prints, originals, coloring pages, and custom commissions Some of her artwork is also available on products in varying platforms (links in the shop page).
